I think the software drivers provided with the BSNL instrument from the BSNL Office are malicious and corrupted which creates problem in the system. Due to the corrupted software, all my system data are lost and corrupted.

Do I able to fire case against the BSNL as lost of my data. What do I do in such a case. Please suggest me.

Here is how you can share your “single user” BSNL broadband connection to as many PCs you have. Also this work around is for educational purpose. I take no responsibility for the resulting stuff. Do at your own risk!

First of all log in to SmartAX MT880 admin panel by typing admin/admin user/pass combination. You can access the admin panel by typing 192.168.1.1.

Then on left menu:

In DHCP settings, enable DHCP.

Set the ending IP address according to number of PCs you want to connect. For example if you have 100 PCs, set starting from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.102. ( In this figure, I have randomly set 33 just for phun! )

For doing server client configuration.

Next thing you have do is changing TCP/IP settings. Go to control panel -> network settings. right click your nic and change tcp/IP properties.

First remove the Ip settings done by bsnl guys to as in this figure. ( note the greyed out section, which is set in advanced button )

Then in advanced section add default gateway as 192.168.1.1

Now share this connection from network setting of this nic. by checking “allow other users in my network…blah..”

This makes your other lan card to be set with default 192.168.0.1 as IP, which is the default when doing connection sharing.

You are done with network server now.

Now you have to configure every client machine. Just go to network setting and in TCP/IP settings of each nic, set the following stuff.
Update #1
Just discovered some people are using a new DNS server for fast response. Here is the IP.

218.248.255.145
Add this IP as preffered DNS server.

Update #2
Use OpenDNS as your DNS servers. I found this better than any other DNS servers available.

Do this to as many client machines you have.
DHCP will take care of rest. Each of client machines will be gettin an IP in range of 192.168.0.x.

If this doesn’t work for you, then add your server’s Nic’s IP as default gateway in advanced section. Normally for connection sharing it will be “192.168.0.1

Connection Sharing Using Switch

In this case everything is very easy. You only need to plug-in your modem connection to switch. Then set all PCs to obtain Ips automatically. You are done!

As per the BSNL officials, the company is looking forward to come up with few other plans for the rural broadband and theses are expected to attract huge number of customers.

The company has also informed that the rural plans are available in two distinct schemes as usage-based tariffs and unlimited usage schemes. The rates of these services are reasonably cheaper than that of the tariffs in the metros and the cities.

It has been informed that the plans start from the monthly fixed plan of Rs. 99. This includes the BBG Rural USOF 150 Plan in it. In this plan, the user can have 1 GB free usage on every month. The download speed will be up to 2Mbps.

It has also informed that there will several combo plans which will allow the rural customers to have broadband and landline at the same time.

BWA spectrum will be released immediately.” The gap in allocation is because BWA spectrum is already available with the DoT while 3G air waves will be released by the Defence after BSNL issues the purchase order to suppliers for the optical fibre network. This gap in allocation means that Indian operators such as Reliance Industries owned Infotel, Aircel, Bharti Airtel and Tikona can start rolling out their broadband network immediately. But foreign players Qualcomm and Augere, which had also won BWA spectrum in a few circles, will have to wait till they get approvals from Foreign Investment Promotion Board. Qualcomm will also have to acquire an Internet Service Provider's licence and divest at least 26 per cent stake to an Indian entity before it can claim its spectrum. Market watchers, however, said that the two-month lead may not result in any major advantage to the new broadband players such as Infotel as they will to start building a network from scratch which takes time. Also technologies such as LTE, which is proposed to be deployed by most of the BWA winners, is still not commercially available.

 On the other hand, 3G technologies are already available and most operators including Vodafone have said that they will launch services by the end of this year. The Government has received more than Rs 1.06 lakh crore from the sale of spectrum. DoT said that the high cost of spectrum will not have any impact on tariffs. “The process has met all the objectives of the auction set by Government, and while maximising revenue proceeds was one of the objectives, there were also the important objectives of ensuring competition in the sector and conducting a transparent auction process,” Mr Thomas said. The Government is now looking to replicate the auction model for selling other public resources and for awarding contracts by various departments. DoT has been asked to give a detailed presentation to departments at the Centre and at the State-level.
